DESCRIPTION:Helping Students with Disabilities Thrive in the World of Work

Research shows that one of the top indicators of a successful transition to adulthood is the internship and/or work experience the youth had while still attending school. The California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Student Services are activities that support youth in exploring and preparing for employment.

Services are based on the student’s interests, and could include exploring jobs that match their strengths, learning about further education and/or training that support potential career goals, and finding, applying and interviewing for jobs – just to name a few.
Please join Nancy Wentling from DOR for an overview of this valuable program which helps prepare our youth for success in the workplace – and beyond.

Las investigaciones muestran que uno de los indicadores principales de una transición exitosa a la edad adulta es la práctica profesional y/o la experiencia laboral que el joven tuvo mientras asistía a la escuela. Los Servicios Estudiantiles del Departamento de Rehabilitación de California (DOR) son actividades que ayudan a los jóvenes a explorar y prepararse para el empleo.

Los servicios se basan en los intereses del estudiante y podrían incluir la exploración de trabajos que coincidan con sus fortalezas, aprender sobre educación superior y/o capacitación que respalden posibles objetivos profesionales, y encontrar, solicitar y entrevistar para trabajos, solo por nombrar algunos.
